I got the offer for the ride in Grenada but there are many boats here. You could just wait at the dingie piers and ask the captains though an island with a marina is probably preferable
Though I have not personally hitchiked boats from this harbour, I know some people who got lucky here. Less hhers than in Gram Canaria, so definitely worth a shot
I found a boat here to go to the Caribbean. Insane luck. I was on another boat at that time and only hopped onto it in Lanzarote. Not many boats here far better to search in Gibraltar or the Canaries
really, really good spot to get over the Andes to Chile and directly to Santiago. My original plan was to go South but I had no luck finding a car going there so I ended up taking an offer to go west.
The employees at the fuel station are nice but the won't allow you to ask the drivers directly.
I got so insanely lucky here. 1212km in one truck. Stood with a sign waiting, many cars going in the right direction, the truck stopped to let somebody out and I asked him where he went and well 24 hours later I was in Mendoza
I wasn't allowed to ask in the gas station for rides, but stood with a sign saying "Carretera dirección Cordoba / Jujuy" to go to the real highway on the opposite site of the road and sure enough a pickup truck stopped after some 15min
took me six days to find a boat. As far as I know way better than the Canary Islands, way less competitors. You can sleep in "The Jungle", a small forest direct next to the marina. Though I have unconfirmed information it is fenced now. (Oktober 2023)
many cars passing, a bit sketchy to stop but got quite lucky. Maybe you will find a much used plastic sign to Gibraltar/ Algeciras on the ground :) (Oktober 2023)
As always directly before I wanted to give up and change the spot the wonderful Julia picked me up and gave me a ride to Zaragoza.
Not too many cars passing, probably best in the morning. Good view and mostly good for stopping (September 2023)
many cars come through, but none stopped for me. After a while I bought food for the dinner in the nearby supermarket and the owners girlfriend was just driving to Sabiñánigo and gave me a ride. (On the entrance to Sabiñánigo infront of the roundabout is a good place to pitch a tent. Right under the powerlines =)
