The other spot isn’t so good now because the majority of people in the vicinity are Portuguese cars that come to the gas station for cheaper fuel. Asked around and got incredibly lucky, a ride all the way to Irun with a French/Portuguese man. Don’t know what the alternative would be, maybe at the border crossing works better

If you somehow end up here, and although the actual stop is further up the road, the driver will stop and can take you for free to the border

Pretty empty on a Monday morning, asked around and found someone going to a town near Vilar Formoso (fluent Portuguese). If you’re coming from Guarda center it’s a 90 minute walk with some fence-hopping and train track-crossing

Horrible place on a Sunday, only locals. One Angolan family took pity on me and took me to the nearest bus station in Torres Novas

Seems like, in the reverse of everyone else, the spot at the entrance of A1 near Encarnação didn’t work for me after an hour. I walked to the gas station and got a ride in 5 minutes

Most people will head up north, but there are some tourists that go onto the A23. Got picked up by a Venezuelan family traveling around
