Asking everyone around if they are going to Lithuania. But half of it was staying in Suwalki. Lithuanian cars were usually full of things. But eventually a estonian camper took us to Kaunas. But still probably its the best gas station to get to Lithuania
Quite bad spot. There is for sure a lot of space to stop but cars just go fast and its two lanes so a bit shit. But eventually with a sign we got a ride to Suwalki. But from I saw on the road not a lot of traffic goes past Augustow. Even thi there are million cars leaving Byalistok.
Probably the best gas station to get a ride between warsaw and ostrow from my experience. We were trying to go to Lithuania but we accepted a ride to Bialystok which was maybe not the best idea because it can become pretty hard to get out of there. So if you are going to Baltics just stick to the main highway. Eventually you will get someone who is going there.
Idk what was our luck but we tried with a sign Ostrow or just thumb but we waited until somebody picked us up that was going further than just closest turn off to industrial districts. Got a ride to gas station with Mcdonalds. It was early in the morning so maybe people were just going there for work?
Was here after a lunch so already quite a few trucks were stopping for a day. And maybe here its better to ask just cars because there is quite a few. But still half of them goes to Katowice area. But eventually I got a guy to Warsaw and I think its better to not accept anything closer. Try to get at least past Czestochowa.
Not a lot of traffic but normal amount. Tho half of it goes to Ostrava. But eventually got a truck which was going to Katowice so asked to drop off at the gas station in Poland.
There was so many cars at the Mcdonalds and other restaurants that I got overwhelmed and just asked trucks so got one which was going to ostrava to rest for the rest of the day. But there is a lot of traffic here but I dont know how far the cars go but almost all were czech. Easy to get here from the city with a bus which cost 1.5 euro. You cannot pass without ticket because you have to pay to driver.
I was here very early in the moring on a weekday so most of cars were stopping for coffee or something before going gor work in Bratislava. So asked trucks around and got a ride to Brno. Also there was a lot of trucks going to Bratislava so maybe its better to go to gas station further down the highway?
Got droped at this border control because local lady said that i only can cross this one on foot? Was crossing the border and asked a car ahead with slovakian plates if they can pick me up and he agreed do got taken straight to Bratislava and even he invited to stay at his apartment for the night and drove me to gas station in the morning. Very nice guy who also hitchhiked in his youth.
Maybe because its not a tourist season or what but only like 30% of cars were with foreign plates and there was pretty low amount of traffic in the middle of weekday day. After one hour police showed up to do traffic check here so they said to fuck off but I moved only a bit further away and tried but was unsuccesful to get a ride for 90 more minutes after police called me again to write me a ticket but changed their mind after they saw my EU passport(???) so just said jump the fence to fields and fuck off completely. After that Iwalked to next gas station 15 km down the road because there was no traffic on ramps going down to highway in Hingary direction
Was trying to get to Hungary. Wrote Subotica on sign and got a ride by the guy going there. Asked to drop me off at Subotica toll station. I think its better to write Subotica because from what I saw there was not a lot of people going to Hungary so its better to probably just try to get to Subotica and then try Hungary. There was a looot of traffic but most of it cleared up after Novi Sad
I think this is quite a good spot to get out of belgrade north. Held a novi sad sign and got a ride like in 30 mins. Ofc there is two lanes so a lot of times trucks are blocking for cars to stop but there is no space on ramp to stop and here cars go slowly and there is plenty space to stop for people going up the highway.
Dont think its a good spot to wait. Cars just go too fast. And I was in the morning waiying so there was a lot of traffic on this street so multiple times I got blocked by thevtruck going out. I think is much better to move a bit closer to the city where the traffic lights are
I stood a bit further from roundabout where was more place to stop but ig I was too far away because locals who stood closer just on sidewalk got picked up before me. I hope its the spot difference but yeah try to stand closer where its lower speed for cars. Still not very easy place to hitch not a lot of people pick up.
Seemed as a good spot because loses all the traffic towars Kolasin and there a lot of space but had to wait a long time. But got picked up straight to gusinje.
Waited here because there was more place to stop but i would recommend to just stand at the exit of roundabout. Thats the most popular position to stand in Montenegro. Locals do that even tho there is no place to stop but drivers prefer much more stopping at lower speed even tho blocking the road. But got the ride in 30 min with a serbian guy who did the wrong turn. Got to Berane. But not easy section to HH
Not the best spot as cars drive fast. But stood at the entrance of gas station and somebody just stopped and got a ride to podgorica. Didnt want to wait for train. There is train stop in 9 mins.
Very shit spot. Tried on the main road but cars go fast and there is piterally zero space but got picked up by people going from virpazar to zabljak but needed only podgorica. I would suggest taking the train ehoch is cheap (i didnt want to wait 1 hour) ot just asking people at the exit of town if they hoing to your direction
A lot of space because its a bus stop and drivets dont go fast as its a turn. Got picked up in 10 mins to berane. Ideally would like a longer ride but its a hub and here its mostly local traffic

Didnt like this spot a lot. A bit akward for cars to stop but still got picked up fast to podgorica. If you want a better spot there is a bus stop 15 mins up the way but cars might go pretty fast there so idk.
Spot is probably one of the most popular in montenegro. Came at the same moment as local got picked up in 10 mins to Cetinje. Also met other hitchhikers who said before them 5 locals got picked up and then they got picked up in like two mins. Good spot. The best in this direction
A loooot of space to stop but some cars (more locals) go very fast so should bet on tourists to stop more. But after hour got a ride straight to the coast. Very nice. There is a restaurant a bit further on the road with plenty of space to stop. Cars will go slower for sure because its on incline but maybe less willing to stop because of that? Idk tbh
Idk why but maybe not a touristic season but had to wait for almost 90 min here. Before this montenegro was a dream to hitchhike. But good spot never the less. Cars see you for a really long time so if they wanted they will stop.
If for some reason you ever arrive here its a good spot. Cars dot go that fast and a lot of space. Also kids there were really interested what i was doing :DHDHHDHD. Guy eho droped me off also took other old guy hitchhiking but he didnt spek any english so it was a bit akward to hitchhike becaue you should get the spot forst? But he got it becuse the car only had one space. But not long after him i got a ride also. Good spot because cars are not that fast and wuite a lot of them. At the time of writing the road to foca is kinda closed but i still did this road for some reason. So can be even better traffic. Easy to stop but no shade :(((
Very good spot to go to mostar. Slow cars and a lot of space. No shade tho. But it was evening for me so all fine. You can try to catch earlier but there no space to stop. But if you dont wanna walk you can do that.
Its a fine spot. Not a lot of space to spot but its fine. Cars going slow after the intersection. And easy to get a ride to blagaj because a lot of people going there. Especially on weekend. And very nice that its a big shade. Only big minus you need to walk alot out of town. But as it was sunday i had no other option because people dont need buses on sundays
Very good spot. Drivers going slow because of a roundabout and you have a lot of space to stop because you are standing in a bus stop. Got a ride to Mostar in 15 minutes. Came right after church so cars just cleared up in the stop becaue for some reason they dont cre about busses being able to stop
Pretty nice spot with shade. This road is the best to get all the traffic going into Mostar. A bit of the hike up but its fine. Can be a better spot but shoudl do the job.
Stood on the intersection because two locals advised me too to catch also the traffic going from the town itself into direction of Dubrovnik. Not much traffic at the time so I could just stand kinda on the road and move to the side when needed. Didnt have hope after the whole day but a serbian guy was coming back from his epic trip on the islands picked me up because he drove past me on his bike while i was waiting. Had a great time with him. Drank some beers after in some random local pub. I changed my plans from going to dubrovnik to going to bosnia becauee i was sick of crotia. So my advice DONT HITCHHIKE IN CROTIA. HORRIBLE
Its ok spot. No shadow. A lof of space. Cars go pretty fast but still kinda ok. But noone is picking you up because just crotia. A guy finally picked me up because he saw me that i was standing when he was going to split and i was still there when he was comign back. Just in time because it was almost time for me to go for the last bus of the day.
The spot itself is very good. There are trees some shadow depending on sun position. A looooot of space to stop. And cars dont go that fast yet. After the roundabout. But as it is crotia stood here for 45 min to get to makarska while having a sign saying makarska and there was a lof of traffic and eveyone went to it because there is nowhere else to go. That just crotia. Dont hitchhike
I didnt like this spot as much as other guy. I would say there is not much space to spot and a bit akward also as they coming out of turn into a turn. Provably better to try to catch in one of the earlier bus stops in this town. I think they should be better. But whole crotianis horrible just take the bus :))) waited 45 mins for a guy to take me almost to makarska
Good spot. A lot of space to stop. And drivers see you fro a long time. Also nice spot because got to witness how motorcycle ran into a standing car. And one woman with a kid took me out of her way a bit to Falconara.
A bit far from the town. You can stand a bit earlier but I personally didnt want cars stopping on bycycle path but I think Italians wouldnt care. But this is good spot with s lot of space and gas station nearby
Good spot getting out Pesaro. If you try hitchhiking this road dont expect long rides. So write the next town over or a bit further. For my case i wrote Fano and got ride pretty quickly.
One of the better spots in san marino. But far from the main city ://. At least hour of walking by the side of this regional road. Not that fun. But here drivers see you for a while and go at kinda normal speeds. Also you can ask at the gas station. Fr my case during rush hour it was fuuull. But they just didnt care about me. So got depressed and went to stand with a sign and after 25 mins a very cool italian guy took me to rimini
Two young people took me to gabicce mare (i stood with a cattolica sign). I was during rush hour and the traffic was veryyy slow and there is a loot of space to stop and a gas station to ask if you need. Good spot if you dont go that far
Not the best spot but there is a place to stop and if you are really struglling its a bus stop (there is no signs but it is) so you can catch a bus. Carw going pretty fast and a bit uphill so probably not the most keen to catch. I was during ofseason so not that much traffic but eventually somebody should stop but this is not that rural road that everyone would pick you up
The first car picked me up so lucky ig? But from I saw there was almost no traffic there. Was very dead. But thats the only service station between the big scotland cities.
Good spot because a lot of traffic was at the start (5pm) but then dropped very fast (6pm). Was standing with a sign bulgaria/k.palanka. Maybe a bit far saying signs but there is no other place kinda to go there on that road. Also maybe i was not that lucky because i was trying kinda late in the evening. But eventually very nice truck driver who was paying a toll(stramge because all others had the autamic one) took me all the way to sofia.
Most of the cars are turing around here or stopping at the grocery store. But we needed to go to kuqishte. But some guy eventually stopped. A lot of space to pull over. But kinda need to stand at the end of parking lot because before it its a blind corner so they dont see you.
Probably the best spot going into the mountains. Got picked up by a couple who were going to back to their hotel. Some space to stop and cars are going only to the mountains
It seemed like a good spot with a lot of space to stop and also traffic from the waterfall but noone stopped and when we started walking a border guard going home just pulled over and offered to take us to peja so tahts nice.
Nice spot to go north because cars are slow after round about and there a lot of space to stop. We were just going to the waterfall so a local went a bit out of his way to drive us there.

Super low traffic. Like car every 5 mins but locals are here friendly so we got picked up by one who was just offering a lift to eveyone kinda. We drove to baijram curi. A lot of place to stop and cars are slow and see you for a long time.
Mostly traffic only from ferry so hard to get something and it would eventually. Maybe it would be better just to ask people leaving the ferry for a lift. But some crazy guys stoped who were driving around the mountains and took us to the next town.
We wre trying to get to koman lake ferry and were taken by a tour bus ehich was very suprising. But they took as all the way. Not much place to stop but no one cares because the traffic is low and kinda only in one direction in the morning. Everyone is going to the ferry. But mostly its tours and stuff. Not many cars. So if it can be hard to get picked up because tours dont pick up you often.
Instantly got picked by some guy who agreed to oick us ul to vau dejes but when we said that we need a bit further he said sure i will drive you there. Pretty nice spot. Looks like only locals who are very friendly.
Good spot. Better to wait after the bridge if you are going north. Because people are more willing to stop flat ground. Not much space to stop but its fine because traffic is not big. Sad we didnt go up the scenic route to vlore but we couldnt complain.
We didnt want to walk up the hill so we chose this spot because a lot of traffic which are going around himare are coming from that other road so both flows are connecting here. Drivers are slow because of a roundabout. And there is no shade. But nice swiss couple took us to next town

A bit not nice spot because drivers are going on the small road so they are not think about you but they see you for a while and there a parking lot to stop. We got picked up by albanian group going in the minivan. They went past us and turned around and picked us up :DHDHDHD.
Cars are very slow here because its a hill after a intersection. But it was very low traffic but mostly because we were hitching late in the evening (~6pm). Also it looked like mostly local traffic in the evening. I would suggest going in the morning when all the tourists are going to the other beaches.
Maybe we didnt get lucky but there was only tourists cars going feom blue eye. Most of them were filled with families, so didnt have place for 2 people. But eventually very nice moroccan tourists picked us up to sarande. Also not much place to stop but traffic is low so its fine.
I mean if you want to get out of airport this is probably the best spot because you also catch the traffic from mcdonalds which turned out good for me because the couple picked me up to goteborg from there.
Not too much traffic. I was trying to get to Lithuania with a sign Litwa (Lithuania in Polish). Noone wanted to pick me up even though some truck drivers I knew was going to Lithuania. But after 30 min I found a guy with Lithuanian number plates to get me to Vilnius. Probably helped a lot that I spoke lithuanian to him as I am lithuanian.
Just asked everybody to get a lift to Warsaw. After 20 mins found a guy next to toilet area going to Warsaw. Probably the best place to hitch north because some people were going to Gdansk and Lodz.
Very low traffic. But just ask around for driver if they going to Poland. Best to ask to take you to BP Rowien gas station where is a lot more traffic if you are going pas Katowice.

Probably the best place to get out of Banksa Štiavnica. It is on a steep hill so cars see you for a long time and speed is slow and there is bus stop, but cars could not see it from going uphill. The driver was going to Zvolen, so I asked to be left out at the gas station on highway next to Budča (I was trying to get to Bratislava so I just crossed the highway)
Got a lift to Zvolen. I would say a pretty nice spot. You can ask the drivers in gas station or just wait at the exit. There should be not only local traffic because it is also a exit from the town to highway
Gave up after an hour standing in the rain with a sign to Banska Bystrica. I know I am weak, but I just didnt want to be in the rain and sign was starting to get very wet
Stood with a sign Slovakia. Got off in Ružomberok, because the driver was going south and I wanted to go to high tatras. Pretty good spot because cars are slow after roundabout and there is just about enough space to stop.
Good spot just behind the lights in the bus stop. Its a bit annoying that there is this big bush in front of bus stop, so you have to stand quite close to the road. But the spot is good if you are trying to get south. I stood with a sign Rabka/Slovakia. Got picked up to Rabka
Waited for an hour to be picked with a sign to Rabka. Noone stopped, so I took a bus south to a bus stop after the highway intersection. Got picked up immediately there
I had Byalistok/LT on sign maybe that was a mistake. But a guy stopped for me after 1 hour. Offered to take to Ostrow. But I said to to let me out at MOP with Mcdonalds. Maybe because to put on sign Ostrow because i met more drivers going to Ostrow in that gas station
Probably the best spot to go to Kaunas, got picked up in like 3 minutes (maybe got lucky). There are a lot of cars but already they are going pretty fast. It easy to get from bus top "Gariūnai".
