There place is one of the majors exits of the city, where many drivers go to take the Highway BR-290 to West or East, or the Highway BR-116 to North.

The best place to ask a ride is in front of the Continental Hotel because it is between two traffic lights and the drivers go slowly and they can stop for you.

There is a gas station where drivers stop before going to North (Highway BR-116) and East (Highway BR-290), mainly at weekends.

It's not allowed to ask a ride near the fuel pumps, but you can do it on the gas station exit. It's a secure place, with many surveillance cameras.

Good spot for hitchhing! My friend and I have got a ride to a gas station 30 km south of Guaíba. There we've got a nice ride directly to Uruguai. There are many cars going South to Pelotas or Uruguai.

We decided to stop after the toll, the police station and the gas station to show that we were going to Pelotas. We waited for 40 min, and a truck stopped. The best day is saturday cause many people are going back to their home after a work week.

To get to this point, we took a bus to near Guaíba (R$ 7 - 2016) and they left us after the police station, in front of the gas station, where there is a bus stop.
