Tough one if going towards Macedonia. After 5min had a ride offer to Thessaloniki, unfortunately declined, just to wait almost 4 hours (started 5:55 AM) for the next car to stop that went along the ring road of Thessaloniki, where there was a better spot towards Macedonia. Some tourists, but very low traffic in the early morning hours. Great sleep on the restaurant sofas though.―Anonymous

Korinous, Plaza-complex and sizeable gas-station. Doesn't get much better on Greek freeways. First proper one on road to Athens besides the toll-stations. If needed hit the road with sign―Anonymous

Korinos rest area (direction north), the last one before Thessaloniki.I was going to Xanthi, and although i was in a car going to Thessaloniki, i asked my driver to leave me here.
After asking many cars, i found one going in my direction. I saved a lot of time, compared to if i went to Thessaloniki.

Another good spot in Katerini, but I prefer the one closer to the city center. Some people here speed up and won’t stop even tho there is a bus stop bay by the road.―Imchoo

It took unexpectedly long to catch a car to Thessaloniki. It might be a good idea to walk around the rest area where people stop for a coffee and some snacks. There is a free Wi-Fi available.―Imchoo
