Didn't get a ride here, this is not the main highway and a lot of cars are going to their villages. While we were walking towards the toll road a car stopped and bringed us 60km north from there. To arrive here we took a Train and then walked 3km―Anonymous

Very wide road, a lot of people go to Athens, especially on Sunday. Plenty of space for cars to stop. You're visible from the far. A greek took me to Kifisia in Athens, nice ride.―Anonymous

It's a difficult place for cars to stop, but there is a traffic light and a little space at the side to stop quickly. A Greek took me from there to Chalkida and we even went for lunch and swimming. Lucky day 🙌🏻―Anonymous

Plenty of space for cars to stop, traffic light and quite some traffic. Got a quick ride up the road and got out next to the BP gas station along the highway. Big hole in the fence (can't miss it) so easy to enter station.―Anonymous

Waited a minute to get a ride up the road parallel the A1 near Afidnes.Took quite some time to get here from Athens by public transport, but worth the hassle.

By European standards, terrible. Three hours for a short ride. Next time I'm in town, I'm searching far and wide for a better spot.―Anonymous

That's a very bad point to start hitch-hiking north. Better try the spot in Agios Stefanos, at the terminus of the bus 509, when you are already out of the city.―Anonymous

The only spot for going north described on the "Athens" hitchwiki page, recommended to get any short ride to first toll station and then try to get long-distance ride―Anonymous

I think this is the best place to start HH if you are heading north from Athensps: bus 508 does not operate anymore, take 509 from kifisia and stop "neo terma" from there you can take a short ride until the first tools or walk (5km away)

After trying many different spots to get out of athens, i conclude that this is the best one to go north. From metro kifisia, take bus 508 go down to the terminus, and walk to the side road of Athens Thessaloniki (here).
From here you can get any short ride to the next gas station 7km away.

Most cars are locals and dont stop. Finally i got bored, started to walk, and somebody took pity and brought me to the next (good) gas station called Sirios.―Anonymous
