Unless it's difficult to stop there, greek people do it (they don't fear breaking the rules on the road).

Best place to hitch-hike to Athens. Just after the toll stations. There's a shade and the cars even go to a full stop. Either stand behind the toll station or go face to face and talk to the drivers. It's common to HH in Greece like that.―Anonymous
