Was very lucky, walked here and a Swedish sailboat was just leaving for Dublin, so I got a passage across straight away.―anettlee17

Stand at traffic lights and approach stopped cars. Great for Belfast and other places north of Dublin.―Anonymous

This spot is legal to stand at, unlike the other spot further up, which is under motorway regulations. You need a sign, since there will be north and southbound traffic. An excellent spot.―Anonymous

Well, I guess it isn't legal spot anymore. After 30mins of hitchhiking airport police stopped and told us to leave immediately.. (August 2012)―LuciMK

It's a good place for hitchhiking to the Dublin city centre, but totally senseless for Belfast directions (even though motorway sings say differently). Three cars stopped us during an hour and told us to give it up, no chance to getting from here to Belfast. At the end we had to take a bus...Anyway, cars drive fast, but there's a plenty of space to stop. So make a big sign. Also a lot of taxi drivers drive around and they think and thumb up means we want taxi, so try to not hitchhike them :)

I got a ride past the check-in. A family of four already had their ticket booked, but the check-in staff member didn't see me sitting, so I got in for free. Normally they charge per passenger, so the change of this happening is rather small. Paying as an extra passenger is still cheaper than paying as a foot passenger. After the check-in you can easily talk to drivers to ask whether they are going in your direction after the ferry, if you initial ride isn't.―Anonymous

Average to spot to join west-Dublin by the circular. Small space to hitchhike but possibilities to meet a pilote from the airport ! Temps d'attente : 35min

2ppl, wednesday afternoon. We came from Dundalk, wanting to get a ride towards Limerick. Our strategy was to find a ride from someone going past Dublin to Red Cow (a Luas stop, on the west side of Dublin), take the Luas and then continue from there hitchhiking west to Limerick. The strategy worked quite well, as we found that person really soon. We asked around at the entrance of the station.
