i was signing for cork at the entrance of this petrol station and also approached people with no luck, then i decided to stand at the exit just thumbing without a sign and two people stopped within 5min. At the exit people go slow and before going back on the motorway there is a place for them to stop.

Good spot for access to food/restrooms, petrol station owners very friendly. Waited for 90 minutes no cars stopped. Albeit raining and dusk

signed for dublin and got lucky with a lift quickly. seems like a good spot at first because drivers can see you from across the crossroads but cars are driving too fast here from the dual carriage way to slow safely, and cars turning from the perpendicular roads are mostly locals. try after the roundabout on the motorway or at the traffic lights before the clinic to the south.

Not a very good gas station, but I was nearby so it was my best shot. But if possible I don’t recommend ending up here lol. Most of the people not heading far, or are cautious to take someone.
I was lucky to get a ride with a family-ran equestrian business owner and they took me to Gorey and then I couchsurfed with them.

Was very lucky, walked here and a Swedish sailboat was just leaving for Dublin, so I got a passage across straight away.

You can get to Maynooth by train. From there you have to walk around 2 km (? as far as I can remember) to get to the motorway. Took us about 45 minutes to get a lift.
