Good spot to go to Milan, because there are two direct ways. And it is just one way from the gas station for all the traffic. We (couple) had a sign Milan.―TwoThumbsTravel

We were little lucky that one truck took us straight to Milano. This is a good spot even for trucks to stop.―VitekOliver

Direction Venezia - BresciaDon't loose your time to go there from the center of Milano. It's dangerous, drivers go fast, and you will wait hours.

It's very easy to reach! when you turn right at the bridge continue to walk you ll find an open door (07-2014)! but keep in mind there's a new highway that connects Milan to Brescia directly without passing to Bergamo! it's faster but this spot should still working good!―Vulla

somewhat bad place for me (headed to Genova), it took a while to talk my way into a ride, around 1:30 hours in the mid day, but with help of the station workers I got a ride to just south of Milano to a gas station―Whateversclaver

It´s a good place but the problem is that most of the cars are going to MIlano.I was there about 75 mins. I asked every single car that arrived there and then got a lift to Verona. The spot is worth trying, esy to find and if you get lucky a truck may take you far away―ESko

This is the 2nd spot described at the "East towards Verona" section of the "Milano" hitchwiki page (http://hitchwiki.org/en/Milan). The directions to get here are the following:"An alternative and easier option is to take the metro (green line) to Cologno Nord. It doesn't really matter which exit you leave the station by, as long as you are walking north. Follow the road for about 5 or 10 minutes until you get to the beginning of the bridge over the motorway. Rather than actually crossing the bridge, you turn right, off the road, and walk along the raised grassy area beside the motorway. After 4 or 5 minutes you will have reached a gas station."
I followed them and got there with no problems whatsoever. Even though it's a small place and not too many cars or trucks stop there, I got a lift in about 30 minutes!

You can reach this Petrol station from Gessate the last stop of Metro 2 Green Line and after that walking and arrive there without walking on highway check the map( but you can lost easily if you don't have a map so i advice the spot on cologno nord, easier to reach) it's full of cars and foreigner trucks i found a ride asking to truck-drivers after 5 minutes!!―Anonymous

A good spot to go south (A1). Take the metro to Cascina Gobba, then walk to the gas station (you'll see it behind the metro station). I got a lift in 10 minutes asking truck drivers―Anonymous

Good spot to go out of Milan, as said by the other, need to jump over fences but managed to find a truck quite quickly!―Emric

So this is the spot №1 from the "how to get out of Milan" guide. At least that's how I got here. The instructions were mostly clear and intuitive, though some things have already changed since the article was written. As such, for some reason the metro train wasn't going all the way to Cologno Nord station. Rather it stops at Cascina Gobba and from there you have to take a bus to the desired metro station. The ride was about 20 min long and I didn't even pay for it.When I got to Cologno Nord I followed the instructions and walked for about half a mile in the northeast direction until I saw the big electricity pole. To get to it, I had to jump over a 2 meter wide trench (it's more convinient if you cross it at the car gate to your right). Then I had to make a jump over a yet another trench, this time just below the electricity pole. Though I found the doors to be closed with padlocks so I had to jump over the fence from where you can just casually walk downhill to the gas station.
Advice: watch out for the stingy bushes, wouldn't recommend going this way if you're wearing just shorts and a t-shirt (you're likely to scratch yourself badly due to the dense vegetation that stands in your way).
After I got to the station I got picked up pretty quickly. The driver gave me a lift all the way to Bergamo from where I went with another car to my destined city of Brescia.

I asked my ride to leave me here on my way from Milan to Brescia since I didn't want to enter Bergamo. I was surprised to see that many cars were passing through this gas station even on a Sunday night.Eventually got picked up all the way to Brescia relatively quickly.
P.S. On this Autogrill I came upon a couple of foreign backpackers that were headed to Venezia. They were standing with a sign on the entrance to the gas station, which didn't bring them much success since I found actually asking the drivers in simple Italian way more profitable.

Main thing to remember: In Italy the highways are fenced, so you have to find your way inside. We got here from nearby bridge because there're ways to get inside―Anonymous

Spot with a lot of traffic, not a lot of space for them to pull over but. Most of them are heading Brescia or Verona―diiiiiiiane

Only waited for 15 minutes. Asked every person leaving the autogrill returning to their cars. Only got taken to Bergamo, but the direction was good.two male hitchhikers.
