In the morning I took the bus to the SA. It only runs every few hours. From the busstop it's short walk up the hill. Because the station is a on/off ramp no fences are involved. I always stand in front of the toilet or store to catch most people. It took some time but a older man with a dope ass truck took. He even searched around to find my next ride, which made me a little umcomfy.―GermanyToIndia

There is a bus connection to JR/SA but it's only a few times a day. I hitch hiked a nice lady (working at Starbucks) towards JR. The station is a on/off ramp which is nice.―GermanyToIndia

Shortly after eating my lunch I was approched by a truck driver. He took me all the way to Hiroshima (including a second lunch along the way). Japanese people are so friendly and according to hichwiki you should not refuse the free meals/gifts. Station is big but was not very busy. Make sure to use a sign in kanji and look tidy.―GermanyToIndia

Gas station, plenty of space to pull over. All traffic is going North, or south depending on your desired direction. But very easy to get a ride―AK1204

Lots of cars were going north. I had a sign just for Kyushu. Got a,lift after 20 mins. Bit of a pain getting to this service area from hiroshima right now because there were road works so it was about a 1h walk from the tram.―Anonymous

So I was going down do Kyushu, idk how the other people got to this station, maybe they got dropped off there, but I had to pass a trail full of spiders and webs and then jump a fence to enter 💀 the fence is rather easy to jump but you need a stick to clear all the spiders, kinda felt like some Indiana Jones type of shit, so be prepared. Unless you’re doing it on 8th of September 2024 then I cleared all the creatures on that trail.Speaking of the spot itself, I was holding a Fukuoka sign, Caucasian male slightly tanned wearing an Osaka cap and probably 3 spider families on my backpack. First car stopped (approx 10 seconds of hitchhiking) going all the way to Nagasaki, so a win is a win.
You can actually watch me getting to the SA on my yt channel Polyglot Abroad if you want to see what getting there is like.

―Li
