At sunset, just after the bridge is a small pull in kind of thing, a kind person stopped. They where going to the other side of town but unsolicited drove further down the road to a good camp spot. At the end of the bridge in the middle of town there is a small layby (not a bus stop), the traffic is slow and visibility is OK. 50 minute wait. Not amazing but not terrible, a lot of traffic passed and it was local, i also feel like my sign for a tourist destination far away repelled short distance rides. Driver stops and is going to Shingu! He speaks very veryLittle english but is a kind legend and we have a fun Google translate conversation. The locals where quite fun, some thought I was funny, some where encouraging, some scared, but all where respectful.
