It's not a good spot. It's the beginning of the tunnel to the expressway and the cars going there drive on the right lane, making it almost impossible to stop for you or even see you. I waited 3 hours before an English speaking helpful guy drove back just to take me. I would try to find another spot that connects to the expressway.―Canaydemir

I waited for 40min at 9h in the morning on a Sunday. Then got ride to Fukuoka (I was heading Osaka).I asked the driver to stop in a car park on the highway. Although is prohibitted is the best place to get a ride. I rode to Osaka from Nagasaki with 4 different cars, wating an average of 20 min from car to car. Hitchhiking in Japan is great!!

Right before the tunnel that leads directly to Fukuoka, a little hard for the drivers to spot you however there is designated parking by the Lawson's store and they have ample time to spot you because of the traffic lights. Optimal for quickly leaving Nagasaki without the need for an SA.―shacovian
