Nagoya->Osaka pt1. Fair amount of traffic, the fences to get inside the SA are always open. Got picked up by a nice trucker!

Yooo the other guy was right, I had to jump a fuc*in fence lol. I did that on the southern side with the park/garden whatever since nobody will see you. But be careful cause there are some highway cameras after you jump, I'd say stick close to the side of the road and move fast. I went straight to the bathroom for some 10 mins just in case, then the hitchhiking went pretty smoothly, big time traffic. I was going to Tokushima, some guy going to southern Kyushu picked me up all the way.
Easy spot, kinda annoying that it's locked and you gotta jump but tbh it's an easy jump, just be careful there's some weird soil mixed with grass around the fence which can suck your feet in.
I got all on video on my yt channel @PolyglotAbroad if you need a demo.

I went here again. This time the gate was closed and pretty solidly locked.
If you go over to the other side of the highway and walk up the side there's another gate that's much more private (the other one is outside a hospital) you can jump over. Alternatively, further down the other side there's some weird garden feature that connects directly to the parking area but is surrounded with lots of trees and bushes - presumably you could jump the fence there easier, though it's further to walk to.

Service area close to Kishibe station on the Kyoto line. There's a gate on the station side that you can open and walk in, and a bridge connects both sides of the service area. Plenty of traffic. Perfect to escape from Osaka.

Good spot for hitching to the Kyoto or Kobe direction. Plenty of room for cars to stop.

Yes you have to climb a fence but it was doable :D at the side of the hospital there was a bush that was hiding us well from the street, t helps if you are 2 people though so you can lift eachother over the fence. At the service area you can easily cross to the other side. We met a Japanese hitchhiking couple here that told us they climb over the gate regularly. We got a ride for all 4 of us after around 20 minutes of asking. Perfect spot to leave osaka:)
