Decent rest stop, easy to access by bus or train. I’m told it’s not as nice your average Japanese service station tho. Used it to get out of Kagoshima.

Had 3 people offer rides in this time. Slower than usual I’m sure due to the rain, and apparently our sign was wrong (we had written E3 Kita on it so beware haha). Kind uncle bought us some snacks for the wait and we ended up hitching a ride to the Luffy statue.

Only waited 5 minutes at the petrol station before at truck driver came to me to drive me to the next rest area. You cang get there if you want to go to Kurume or Fukuoka

See hitchwiki; best spot to go out of Fukuoka. Waited 5 minutes at the end with a sign for Kumamoto, and got a car dropping me there. Easily reachable by tram.
