I hitchhiked a bit further at the border itself. It was Tuesday noon in August 2016. There was no queue there at all, in fact, the border was quite desolate. Nobody ever demanded any kind of permission from me nor did anyone try to get money out of me. Though I must admit this permission-for-border-areas thing does exist (in Russia and Belarus for sure) but unless you encounter police, nobody will check it. Just hitchhike to Mamonovo - it's not that difficult :).―Tajavit

You can get to Mamonovo by bus from Kaliningrad. But be careful!!! It is some kind of a restricted border zone so you need some official permit for entering it (you would be informed by military men who stop you in the street. And they don't care that it is the first time you here about this rubbish). Still they allow hitchhiking just before the border crossing. A lot of Poles going across the border. But it can take some hours to cross. And be carefull!!! Russians can demand money at the border crossing―Anonymous

A place just after the border crossing. There are lights there so you can hitchhike when its dark. A lot of place for cars to stop. Thus you can spend a lot of time waiting.―Anonymous

Unfortunately, there's no space for a car to stop on the road for many kilometres. So, just stay at the end of the town where cars still go slow. There's a couple of driveways by the road where cars can possible pull over. I caught my ride pretty fast.―Anonymous

The way to Frombork - a beautiful town by the sea with a magnificent cathedral on a hill encircled by walls and towers. There's a bus stop where a car can easily pull over. Otherwise, the road is too narrow with no space for a car to stop! So, be careful.
