Last possible street light to find a car to Malmö.

best opportunity to get a ride to malmö and further. stand alongside the road. if you were not lucky to directly get a ride from the ferry just walk along the road westwards, there's a small petrol station as well but doesn't work well. usually in the morning there is much traffic to malmö - tourists from the ferry and working people. sometimes needs some patience.

I hitchhiked a car going on the ferry to Sassnitz. I had to pay 195 Swedish crowns (€20). Aparently, Stena Lines introduced a fee for changing the amount of passengers on the car. The fee is more than what you pay to just take the ferry.

Tried to hitch to Rostock with the 08.00 ferry, was at the spot at 06.45 and left at 07.30 without any luck. I recommend trying to hitch the 15.00 ferry instead.

When cruising with TT-Line and Scandlines/Stena Line the driver can add additional passengers at the check-in free of charge, but most of them don't know that.

I've been here, the third car I asked went my way and haven't booked the ticket so they took me. As we were waiting for the ferry I asked a guy and he took me further to Prague ;)

This is were the cars approach the ferries to Germany and Poland. They go slow and can easily stop. Ferries cost per car, not per person.

There's a long bus stop here nowadays but Google Street View is out of dated for the city of Trelleborg so you won't see it here if you check it today (July 2016). Anyways, I'd recommend you to don't stand by this bus stop, people really seem to not stop there! I heard from locals that it might be even forbidden for them to pull over there. This street really sucks to find a place to hitchhike, but also by speaking to locals I heard that they've seen people standing and hitchhiking just after this long bus stop. Go there and you sou should see a traffic sign prohibiting people to walk farther in that road, and that's exactly where you should stand - just by that sign. There's some space just after this sign where the cars can pull over for you. It really sucks to hitchhike in this central part of this road (I haven't tried others) but this seems like maybe the least bad spot over here + people have seen hitchhikers here before. I didn't get any car to pull over for me anyways, but instead a whole bus stopped. Going to Ystad, the driver said "just come in, just come in!" and that was how I hitchhiked a bus that day.

Walking along the residential road, small hard shoulder and a little slow traffic, the 1st car stopped and took me all the way to malmo! Driver was nice and spoke perfect English. 7am in morning. Solo male.

August, sunday afternoon. High traffic, good visibility, plenty of space to pull over. Unsuccessfully tried a sign saying Germany. Than switched to Treleborg and got a ride in 15min. Easy peasy.

August, sunday late evening. This is a spot where you can ask drivers waiting for a ferry to Germany. Maybe already have your ticket ready? I tryed for a while, but drivers seemed to be quite anoyed. So I decided to walk to pedestrian ferry teminal. Half way there I saw a CZ car at a gas station so I asked the man if I can go with him to Prague. He said YES! I bought a single passanger ticket on-line and was ready to go.
About ferry tickets. TT-line is in general cheaper than Stenaline. As a driver it is possible to by ,,flexi, add-on" ticket, than it is possible to add extra passanger free of extra fee, but still that new passanger must be paid for. Good option might be to buy a pedestrian ticket forehand and than HH at this spot or give it a chance once on board.
I was takeing the TT-line ferry maybe 10 times as a driver. There is a ticket control at port gate (not necessary operated by human). And I have never experienced ticket control once on board. So there is a chance to slip in on board and travel for free if you are lucky.

I came here by bus from Gothenborg. It was raining and I asked around at the gas station. I found a german car that took me all the way to Trelleborg and also on the ferry to Rostock.

People usually just pass by. Luckily a german couple paused for a small coffee break
