One male 40+, no sign, one small and one big backpacks, a very cloudy day (about to rain). On my way from Taitung to Taipei.I was dropped less than 1 km south from here. I thought I'd have to walk much more, but very quickly I found this spot. On the map it looks very urban. But in reality it's not that much.
There is loads of space to stop. Good visibility. Mid busy traffic. Cars go slowly.
After 4 minutes I got a ride all the way to Taipei. The driver was kind enough to drop me in the center, even though he was going to bypass the city.

it takes a very long time to get there by bus from the MRT (45 min) given by hitchwiki. You can get much closer by MRT. Spot is okay but I waited a little while―Anonymous

Tried couple times there, not always succeeded. There's no much place for drivers to stop but all the times we got picked up drivers had no problem.―Huguerl

A hitching spot for traveling west and southwest towards most of Taiwan\\'s other major cities.―Anonymous

Easy and most convenient place in Taipei for going south. You can stay at the side of the street, as there are some parking lanes, which are generally empty, so cars can pull over.―Anonymous

Took Yongning MRT and then walked over to this spot. I was picked up in maybe 3 minutes.―Anonymous

[Did this back in 2024]Don’t trust the few dots in Taiwan, this country is super hitchhikeable!
This place however was really bad, maybe because my sign was too precise and the people seeing it thought they couldn’t help me since they weren’t going there (tip: just write north or south if you want to hitchhike from here). Other than that I think this would normally be a good place to hitchhike out of Taipei

Needed to go to Keelung, was picked up very quickly despite this tough stretch. Cars have a lot of place to stop and can see you from far away. There’s also a red light not far so cars will have to slow down

Good spot for going south, i got a ride to Taichung after 15 minutes. There is not really a lot of space for cars to pull over, but it's just before a traffic light so they will manage to stop for you :)―Anonymous

Great spot to get to Taipei! Cars have a bit of space, and won’t hesitate to stop (especially annoying and insistent taxis)
