DIRECTION RUSHAN/DOUCHANBE : Low traffic but somehow got a direct lift to Rushan (more or less, just before it, truck driver was very tired). Here also saw my German friend Toby with his friends from US and NE.

DIRECTION RUSHAN/DUSHANBE : if you want to go as fast as possible to Dushanbe, stop at the bridge before Rushan where a military checkpoint is located. There, you should be able to find a direct ride to Douchanbe. In a truck it is very long.To leave Khorog, no need to go too far. Several cars will stop for you here. Try go get at least a short ride that brings you further on the road to catch more long-distance rides.

Here start the long road to the Wakhan valley. The roads are bad and there is not much hitchhiking opportunities if you're willing to not pay for rides, so expect low progress. It doesn't really matter where you start, just stay on this road and be visible. Thanks Faraz M~50Personally I had a lift to before the police outpost in Andarob. There I met kids from school and one of them, Suraj, invited me to his grandpa house. You can search for it it's Yussuf, he speaks english and actually have a homestay. You can pay him 150som for dinner, night and breakfast. I played football with the kid and his friends. Fun

DIRECTION KHOROG : Here is very nice spot. It is in front of a supermarket where many trucks stop, as it is the last stop in the city to get food and drinks. That way you can ask if they go to Khorog for free, but it is good to give them something or buy dinner to them. If it does not work well for you you can still sleep in town. There is plenty of room for cars and trucks to stop anyway. Don't waste your energy on city cars, most likely they are just locals that won't go that far, or if they will they will make you pay.Yes, trucks are slow (mine took 15 hours to Khorog) but it is part of the experience and it is lot of fun in my opinion. You can also hitchhike a 4x4 and do the way in 7 hours but it is more uncommon to catch one. It is however so much easier than Sary-Tash and Kara-Kul !

A doctor in an old ambulance picked us up from here. Good spot after the point where the road comes together, enough place for cars to stop. And traffic flow towards Khorog is quite high.―Tuunu
