Bus 8 (1 Som) or shared taxi no. 8 (3 Som) go along Somoni Ave. They drop you close to the American Embassy from where it's a 20 minutes walk to this roundabout mentioned above.―Tomtom

Take a bus until the final stop(terminal), escape the taxi drivers and go past the gate. If you walk a bit there is a bunch of great spots. Keep in mind, that the karamyk border crossing to kyrgyzstan is closed for foreigners (07.2025)―Anonymous

This is where few locals were hitchhiking too. Some shade under a tree to wait for cars. Not that much traffic, especially going far. Got very lucky with a Chinese couple going all the way Dushanbe. Still better to take this road to Dushanbe than the northern one.―VeikkaK
