Right after the intersection, great spot for going north. Cars go slower after the lights and there is heaps of space for pulling up. I stayed a bit after the abandoned police station. Got a ride to Chiang Mai with a sign in Thai in 20 minutes. There is another spot on the hitchmap next to 7/11 but if you hitch during the day this spot after the intersection is much better.―CarlitosPL

Good spot for going north. Right after intersection there is heaps of space to pull up. Cars will be going slower after the red light. Great spot for hitching to Chiang Mai―CarlitosPL

Great spot to get to Tak, waited 15 minutes and got a ride there. I don’t know if there’s point to put the spots out because the Thai people can pull up for you anywhere. (I used a sign in Thai and English below, using the gesture of waving down a taxi)―CarlitosPL

Good spot for hitching to Tak. Got a ride in 15min, standing with a sign written in Thai and English using the waving down a taxi gesture. I don’t know if there’s point in putting the spits out there since Thai people can pull up for you anywhere.―CarlitosPL

i was waiting in this spot very late at night on the layby/parking outside the 7/11, (visible on google maps street view). managed to convince a truck driver to take me with him to chiang mai. probably easier in the day, but advisable to talk to the drivers who pop into the shop.―Anonymous

Good spot to wait for a car, some shade under the trees (necessary in mid day), at the exit of Esso gas station. I waited around an hour, and got a ride for Tak.―Anonymous
