İ waited maybe 25 there, and İ spent 10 minutes eating melon with a young melon-selling lad who offered me some. Anywhere along this broad highway will do. There is place for cars to stop without worry (for them and you).There is one problem; make sure to ask the driver if he goes to the EXACT place you are saying, and ask him if he is taking you FOR FREE.
My story goes like this: a guy stopped, picked me up and stopped at Viranşehir. He asked me for 10 lira. İ nearly fought with him to make him take his greasy dirty hands off my bag. Moral of the story; avoid weird moments by asking questions before riding.

I wouldn't hitch here, it's only a feeder lane for the main highway, full of buses. Walk down 5 minutes west and you'll get to a much better spot.―k9f100
