This is a great spot for hitchhiking! My original plan was to hitchhike to Kaiserslautern via Nuremberg. After just five minutes, a car stopped, but I turned it down since it was only a very short-distance ride. Even though we were standing at the end of the motorway—which technically wasn’t a motorway—they forced us to buy ferry tickets. 2nd day of Easter (April 2024), a 70 minutes wait and a 422km ride to Kløfta (close to Oslo). To get there take a local train to Lundamo stasjon, this is the last station to which you use a single ticket (46 NOK) valid in transportation zone A. At that point you are well visible and right by the E6 motorway, cars go 50 km/h and there is a large shoulder for drivers to pull over. I used a sign and my thumb. This spot is perfect because all the town and very local Trondheim-traffic is already filtered out.
