After a ride, hitchhikers can answer one question about the driver: would you accept this ride again? Describe who was hitchhiking, and every table below re-counts the answers those people gave.
Read this before reading the numbers.
The question is about one driver, not about hitchhiking. “Yes” means that ride was fine; it is not a measure of how dangerous a road, a country or a kind of person is.
The answers are self-selected. They come from people who log rides on this site, about rides that ended well enough to be logged at all. Nothing here can tell you about the rides nobody came back to write up.
1195 of 84115 recorded rides carry an answer, 33 of them a “no”. Most cohorts you can build below will rest on a handful of rides — the confidence interval next to each percentage is the part worth reading.
Leave a field empty to mean “anybody”. Adding a second hitchhiker means two people in the same car, not a second group to compare against.
A row marked with an asterisk rests on fewer than 10 answers; treat it as an anecdote, not a rate. Percentages are shown with a 95% Wilson confidence interval, which stays wide on small samples instead of pretending to certainty. Ages are the hitchhiker's age at the time of the ride. Time of day comes from the recorded departure time only, never from when the ride was typed in. Rides their author deleted, and rides hidden by community reports, are excluded.
