This place is incredibly busy but.... not effective for some reason. There is only one gas station for both sides of the highway so only a little part of the traffic will go your direction. I did this in December 2015, and it's perfectly doable AS LONG AS you're very determined. Refer to this link to see the path I used: http://1drv.ms/1PxI6eu When Via Capoliveri ends, go straight into the bushes. You should be able to see a very narrow trail, that splits up almost immediately. If you go right, it's a dead end, so go left and just follow the trail. The bushes are dangerously thorny, so make sure your clothing is appropriate. When you reach the highway, turn left and walk down the road (behind the guardrail). The path will get steeper and narrower (you might fall and roll down the hill into the highway if it's slippery), so go back into the trees (circled in blue). The trees are pretty thick, but still, you can work your way until you reach a metal fence that's been obviously climbed over a thousand times before. Go for it and you're on the bridge. Cross the bridge and then it's really easy to reach the gas station. Nothing dangerous to report about that part. It took me 15 mins to find a direct ride to Milan!

I was heading to Berlin and got a ride after 10 minutes. Take the 719 bus and then walk for about 2.5 km. You need to walk along the highway and just a little before you pass the toll station there's a good fence climbing sport. It's obvious to see that other people have climbed it before, so go for it.

I was heading to Novi Sad and waited here for about 2 hours on Monday, starting at 8 am. Most cars are only travelling locally, but a few are going further. There's a big station and a Mc Donald's, as well as two free Wi-Fi networks. Just be patient and you will find a ride. Three or four cars I asked were going towards Zagreb or even further, like Italy. If you filter out the local traffic, you shouldn't find yourself waiting for a long time.

I was heading to Bitola and found a direct ride after bare 15 mins. Locals told me many people work in Skopje and travel back home in the evening. It was 9.30 pm when I got my ride.

This place is just averagely hitchhikeable. I needed to head to the general direction of Skopje but it was still hard to find a ride. Don't bother with Greek cars as they're just going to the casino. It is possible to find a ride though, so don't give up!

I found it really hard to get a ride to Skopje. LOTS OF cars stopping but Greeks won't take you and Serbian cars are completely packed with people.
