Everyone was asking us where we were going and if everything was okay. People were genuinely concerned but wary. That’s normal because on this stretch of the road in French Guiana, it’s common to have your vehicle pulled over by people who ask you to stop. Please note that the federal police office where you get your exit stamp is located in the city, not at the bridge. I don’t know where it is on the French side (since I’m French, I didn’t need to go there).

Getting to Oiapoque isn't easy. Very few people take this route. People use what are called “piratas” there (a concept very similar to “collectivos”) or buses.
