What hitchhikers said along this route
“From Paris to the A1 (motorway to Calais or Belgium). My friend was asking the cars at the petrol station and I was standing with the cardboard saying "Lille" and "A1". There are two petrol stations in 30 meters, but not a lot of people seem to go to the motorway from them. Despite of all a car took us after 30 minutes. To get here you can catch a metro, line 1, to Port de la Chapelle (1,50 euro).”

“We were with 3 couples, all of us got out within the hour. One of us was asking at the petrol station the other one at the road with a sign. There is road construction going on, but it is still possible for the cars to reach the A1 quit easily. Lots of 'foreign' traffic, it was a Sunday in a holiday weekend.”

“We were trying to get a ride to Belgium in the afternoon after having no luck elsewhere on an entry to the highway. First guy we asked in the Total station was a Belgian driving to Antwerp and wiling to taker us along. Maybe we were lucky but as far as I know it's the best spot to go to Belgium in Paris:)”

“good pleace for ask in the lightraffic, good place for go to brussels, if somebody go to lille and you want go to brussels, its good but take care and go down in the petrol station before de difurcacion of the motorways A1 and A2 because if not you will continue to lille, and ther its not so easy go to brusels”

“Stood there with a sign "Lille" and asking people for 6 hours on a monday morning (4am - 10am). Across the street people assembled to travel together, but paid. Might be a deterrent. At night and early in the morning there are a lot of junkies hanging out there.”

“The road is very big and messy and at first I didn't have much hope - but then I got picked up after five minutes! Those guys even were nice enough to stop for another two hitchhikers, so we all got very lucky at this spot :)”

“I was told by locals to try in here, but it's just a waist of time. People is busy and the area isn't the best place to stop. I got picked up after 1h and half, and the bro left me in a random gas station right before the airport where none of the cars were going north. So I managed to comeback to Paris and get a BlablaBus to Brussels. If you are in the countryside, try to hitchhike. If you are in”
