As another review says, it is mining country - people don't really care about your adventure. Most cars here are going west. I tried going to the truck parking at 5.30 am but didn't get lucky. You might want to go see the drivers even earlier. You can camp and take a free shower at the service station. Finally got a lift to the next intersection by another backpacker camping here.―Anonymous

Karratha is not far. Got a ride immediately by a worker - they were doing some renovation work at the roadhouse. There might not be anymore in the near future.―Anonymous
