Tried again to find a ride after I failed on the previous two points.

If some one actually have a car mostly he has his family or dog. So no place.
Since Villach is near Italy alot of cars come her and work here. So trying to communicate with some one with Italian plate always failed. I asked around 15 persons.

My last plan was to take a flixbus to Udine €17 or Venice €23.

Luckily some one gave me ride to next village on the highway. He said there are highr chances for you there.

Spot not easy to get to by foot. Lots of cars and caravans going both directions on the motorway. Got picked up by a nice irish couple on a roadtrip in their van.

Guy and girl heading to Slovenia, had a sign for Tarvisio. First car that passed picked us up. Good spot, loads of space and cars are going quite slow through the border.

Didn't get a lift. Heading to Slovenia, had a sign for Tarvisio then changed it to Italy. Tried 30 minutes one evening then 30 the next morning. Could have tried longer but caught a bus to the border. Spot seems good, space to stop at the bus stop but cars are going quite fast and perhaps not all of them are going to Italy.

Guy and girl heading to Slovenia, had a sign saying Nötsch / Arnoldstein. Good spot, cars are going pretty fast but there's a big extra lane for cars joining the road, and cars on the road can stop on that. Got a lift to Arnoldstein after about 15 minutes.

Hitchhiked from here to get to Villach, Ana amazing spot where the only direction is Austria so you can get to Villach quite quick. Lovely man from Kosovo drove me straight to the station.

Lots of cars and good place to stop.
We were there on a Saturday afternoon and nobody took us for like 3,5 hours.
Most of the people go to the shopping center.

Looks like a good spot, cars drive 50 kmh and can pullover on the bus stop. However, it took me 30 minutes until a car stopped that brought me to Jesenice. Lots of fuel tourists at the gas station.

I usually like to avoid being dropped off at parking lots with toilets but no other infrastrucre, like this one. But due to a planning mistake I had to be dropped off here.
And I must say, I'm positively surprised! Despite low traffic, I found a ride past Ljubljana within 10 minutes because a really friendly Austrian dude started helping me out by asking around for me.

Not crowded, but somehow managed to find a ride super quickly because a friendly Austrian guy asked around for me while I was trying some other cars. The people who took me drove a Tesla and wanted to drop me off in Ljubljana but ended up driving me much further to the exact location I needed to be.

First person I asked drove me further, all the way to a parking lot close to Villach

The main bus stop at the exit of Mojstrana, easy peasy!
I met a French guy in my hostel, he had never hitched before, but we were going to Ljubljana on the same day, so we figured it could be fun if he tagged along! It was pouring down with rain, so we left our bags in the bus stop, and only darted out to stick our thumbs up when we saw headlights in the distance, before retreating back to the dry.
This worked wonders! Within 15 minutes we were in the car of Marco and his 90 year old mother, who loving gave us a lift to Jesenice, and offered us the first of a few umbrellas we’d be refusing that day.
Marcos mother didn’t speak any English, and my Slovene was sadly not good enough to understand her, but my suspicions were confirmed when upon us leaving the car, she proudly announced “BONNE VOYAGE!”

Undoubtedly a good spot to go to Austria or Ljubljana, as the first four cars that stopped were going to one of these.
The is the bus stop for Jesenice hospital, and surprisingly most of the cars that stopped were the ones coming from the hospital road, not the traffic lights.
Eventually, Danno gave me a lift to Mojstrana, dropping me right at the front door of my hostel, and giving me some wonderful hiking recommendations whilst I was there! (Notably, Slap Peričnik in the winter!!)
