Hitched from the Eastbound shell. Took only a short time for a lift to Köln. Our driver was kind enough to drop us at the front door of our friends house

The road to enter is strange, a lot of cars exiting the E40, not using the station then re-entering the E40. It’s not worth trying to stop them, they’re going too fast. We waited at the entrance to the service station, the exit is better as you can catch the cars as they’re leaving

Arrived after sunset, the second guy I asked drove me straight to Aachen

Was about to give up because the sun was setting but then I got a ride to Liège

I needed to head south towards Luxembourg, and this was a great place to find a ride. I was here a few days ago in the opposite direction, and both hitches were quick. To the south, many Belgians are going to Luxembourg for cheap cigarettes and alcohol because of low taxes.

Got ride here quite fast, going southern direction, not all the way to my destination (Luxembourg) but still nice hitch. Sunday 11 am.

This is a good spot for Brussels. Also lot of British people here are going back to Britain for the weekend. Just ask around, and you can easily get a ride to Calais or to the coast. Just be aware, do not go to Calais late in the evening, there are migrants all around. I learned that the hard way.

Not a bad spot towards Liege (Lutych). There is a small gas station, where you can ask around, while you can hitchhike with just a sign from the same spot. Medium traffic, and a decent place to stop.

A lot of cars coming through. There is a spot where all the cars have to pass through so i suggest standing there. Got a lift to Liege quick.

Quite a slow day, due to an EU summit. Nevertheless, had a good time waiting and got a good lift with 2 Belgian gentlemen.

Steady trickle of cars late at night on a Saturday. Lots are local or going to Luxemburg. For getting to Liege you have to really ask them where they are going to find someone driving past Liege to let you out in the subburbs. Traffic to Paris, for example, is good.

On the road just outside the gas station is also a good spot. The highway onramp seems to be useless.

On a saturday night, the only people stopping for me were going back to Aachen. Eventually I took a ride back to the border, used the pedestrian bridge to change sides, and hitch hiked to Liege.

Get a bus or walk to Angleur station, the entrance ramp is very nearby. Plenty of space to pull over, got a lift straight to Luxembourg without a problem.

Not heaps of traffic through here but I quickly got a ride straight to Liege.

Immediately found a ride to Neuss, Germany even though it was fairly late already and there weren't a whole lot of cars around. Just look out for German license plates. My ride even fed me and offered to buy me a coffee!

More people going to the Netherlands than Liège but I still found a ride there in under 30 minutes. Even got approached back! Bonus points for the cute dog I got to have on my lap (not reflected in the rating.)

Onramp spot with a bit of space for cars to stop. Pretty good traffic, but semi-local. Found a ride to Namur after 20 minutes with a sign to Mons/Charleroi/Paris.

"Borrowed" some paper from McDonalds to make a sign to Paris and found a ride after adding some in-between stops (Mons, Charleroi) by standing at the zebra path near the roundabout. Lots of cars (mostly locals, but the quantity helps) going slowly to get into the busy roundabout. My ride didn't take me too far but every bit helps, right?
The McDonalds also has free toilets which is always a plus.
