Maybe my Liège sign was a bit optimistic because nearly everyone was going to Bruxelles. Eventually got a ride to Namur.

Was standing at onramp with a sign for Liège but visibility was not great, I ended up moving to the roundabout before the gas pumps, reverted to my BE sign and I got a ride past Mons in like 5 minutes.

We tried to signal with the thumb at the exit, then asked around, then returned back and signaled for longer. Alot of people are going only to town right next to it. It was really hot outside today so it was hard, but eventualy great guy took us beyond Mons.

The first car I asked was a lovely Parisian family who took me to the suburbs of Paris from here.

To go to France, and south, try to get a lift to the next petrol station called "Saint-Ghislain".

Lots and lots of traffic going to Bruxelles, some traffic going to Liége.

This point has several benefits over the other one located at "Chaussée de Ghlin".
- Drivers see you from far away
- Enough room for them to pull up securely
- Cars going in direction of Brussels or Paris.
- Easy and secure to reach by foot or the free buss from the center of the city
- People leaving from companies, shops, supermarket, cinema and restaurants
Ask for a ride to the petrol station of Saint-Ghislain (direction Paris, Lille) or Le Roeulx (Brussels, Namur, Liège).

Highway fuel station labeled "Thieu" in my map, however the real name is something different.

Highway fuel station labeled "Thieu" in my map, however the real name is something different. It's on the E19/E42 towards Lille and Paris.
