Heading to the UK. Didn't see any UK plates in the parking so waited at the exit with a sign saying Oostende/Calais. Got a lift with a couple of Azerbaijanis who offered to take me to Dunkerque, but I got off at Jabbeke petrol station.

Heading to the UK. Waited 1h45 with a sign saying Gent. 5 cars stopped and offered a lift to Brussels or the highway, 6th one took me to Drongen petrol station past Gent.

Held sign saying Antwerp/E17. Lots of space to pull over but not a lot of spots where cars are looking your way.

My driver was heading to Brussels but decided to take me to Antwerp in the end.

There weren't a lot of cars but I got a lift offer every 20 minutes further down the road to the entry of the N49.

I was aiming for the E34/Antwerp and none of them headed down the E34. I was told the entry of the N49 doesn't have a lot of good spots to stand in but have no evidence of that.
Might be a victim of my rigidity, or maybe I made the right call not getting stranded at the entry of the N49. We will never know.

Lots of space to pull over, but traffic seemed local. I was trying to get onto the E34 to the Netherlands via Antwerp(ambitious, I know) and was offered a ride that took me further down the N9.

You might be better off taking the E40 to Ghent/Antwerp if you wanna go to the Netherlands, but I didn't try that other option. Disregarding that though, it's decent.
