Direction Brussels: Possibility to hitch before or on the On-Ramp. (Note that from October 2007 Onwards the direction East On-Ramp is closed for construction purposes until further notice)

you have to walk a little next to the road if coming from the roundabout.
then you will get to a piece that you have plenty room for cars to stop. here you can go direction luik or E40

cars will drive very short. so pointless if you want toi go out of the city go behind the roundabout a walk of +- 10 min

Ramp in direction east is open (October 2011). First car stopped, right on the ramp to the highway. A Lot of space to stop for cars and they go slow.

This place is very good for going to South (Namur) or Brussels (North). Is a good spot also for going for a longer way to Luxembourg. Bad for going to Liege and the A4 (wait a lot for Liege!)

Pretty good place, better in summer, but not bad I would say. We waited for about one hour to get a ride to Luxemburg. Two guys on a weekday afternoon 2ish

Take bus 5 or 6 and ask the driver to drop you off near to highway E40. Not many cars pass by but it should be possible to hitch a ride to the next gas station (10 k) and from there further east to Aachen, Liege (Luik) or Maastricht.

make sure you have a card that says where you are going,
people are willing to stop, but mostly it is local transport.

this is a good place to go to Namur or Brussels.
Cars at any time of the day ...

Not easy to reach, because there is not much space to walk. You have to walk on the right side of the way, next to parked cars so you can't see fast cars coming on your back...

But once reached, really good place. Cars have to slow down before going on the highway, have time to see you and can easily stop.
Stand on the unused lane with a sign.
