Heading to Belgium. Arrived here at 13.30 on a Friday, left at 8.45 the next morning. Spent the first 3 hours thumbing at the exit on the side of the road, then started doing laps of the car park and asking people. No luck, no-one even going towards Europe. More European plates earlier in the afternoon but by early evening it was mostly UK cars. Lots of Polish vans and European trucks but none of them seemed at all willing. Had about 6-7 offers of lifts to Ashford/Folkestone/Dover, but held out for the channel crossing. Lost hope by 7pm, so put up my tent in the woods before it got too dark. Started again at 6.45 the next morning. On my 3rd lap of the car park I found a German couple who took me all the way to my destination in Belgium! My sense is that asking people directly is much more likely to pay out with a lift over the channel, but thumbing by the exit can get you to Dover pretty quickly.

Pretty good spot lots of traffic coming. Got a ride straight to Luxembourg. Took a long time though which kinda make sense since its far. I started on a Friday afternoon. Also there was construction happening on the curve.

It took us 7 mins to get a ride to Brussels. We held a sign. It's the road just before the entrance to the highway towards Brussels/Antwerp centre. We were two girls at 9pm and got a very nice man take us.

Not the most advisable spot to get to brussel. It is better to hike to the onramp to the A19 near borgenhout. I got picked up in 5 mins for Brussel but many people are going towards brugge and even france.

spot superbe pour aller à bruxelles, de la place pour s’arrêter et c’est en montée donc les voitures roulent lentement

Two guys heading to Belgium, had a sign saying Nürnberg / Frankfurt. Took a while, tried standing by the exit and asking people as they arrived. Eventually found a Belgien car driving to Ghent, the guy let us stay in his cousin's apartment overnight then took us the rest of the way the next morning.
