It was the middle of the night when I was dropped off here, there were cars coming frequently and even though I probably looked really strange. They have to stop for a pretty long time and there is no curb if they want to pull over.

good, safe, visible spot by the bus stop, cars aren't very fast there. deinitely use a sign if you'd like to go past antwerpen, otherwise thumb should be just fine :)

Very good spot if you don't want to wait for the bus (for example when you come from Boombalfestival on a sunday). Just stand on the bus stop or beyond and wave your 'Gent'sign. Waited never longer then 5 minutes.

Good enough indeed - I got a ride to end of Belgium (Kortrijk) but a few French cars were full, so for Lille this is a valid spot, as well.
