We were a couple hitchhiking from the Buzludzha Monument. We were just eating when the first car passed by, so I quickly waved — and they actually stopped and took us all the way to Stara Zagora. There’s a big parking area where people can easily stop if they want, and most cars are heading towards Shipka or Kazanlak.

We were a couple heading to the Buzludzha Monument. We decided it didn’t make sense to hitchhike from the bottom, so we started hiking up, thinking we’d make it on our own. Halfway up, three cars passed us and the last one stopped. They took us all the way to the top. We walked around, explored the area, and then they gave us a ride back down to Shipka pass as well.

We were a couple hitchhiking to the Buzludzha Monument, and we got a ride from the end of the village to Shipka Pass in about 10 minutes. A passing car picked us up. There was a pull-off near the end of the village where cars slow down, so it’s easy for them to stop. There’s basically no other way to go than towards Gabrovo or Shipka Pass.

We were a couple hitchhiking to the Buzludzha Monument. We were standing near a truck parking spot, which wasn’t ideal, cars were passing at high speed and there was only a muddy pull-off where people could stop. After about 15 minutes, a guy stopped and drove us to Shipka.

not bad, mountain passage can be closed during winter times. Easy to get to the peak or Gabrovo, but if u try to get from Kazanlak to Veliko Tarnovo better hitch at Kazanlak east and try going via Gurkovo

Two major trans-country roads join here and there's good traffic towards the Black Sea (Burgas, Nesebar, Sunny Beach) and to major towns in South Bulgaria (Sliven, Stara Zagora).

Avoid the West end of Kazanlak. Better take the time and effort to cross the city.

not a bad spot, although at some period of the year you can find low traffic.

Most cars go to the next villages Kran and Shipka. You can get off at Shipka and continue towards Gabrovo or wait for a ride crossing he mountains to the north
