Probably a bad spot at the gas station on the highway, cars can't slow down and almost no traffic at the gas station. After 10 min a guy going to Kjustendil gave us a lift and drove us to the border to North Macedonia―Clemimens

I first tried to take the road south of Sofia towards Plovdiv, but people to Plovdiv are actually using the highway north of Sofia. Not very good place, seems like only local people stop. I got invited to spend the night in the Apartment of a couple as it was getting late. In the morning the woman took me to the other side of Sofia to a much better spot towards Plovdiv.―Suip

There is a huge junction leading to all directions. Best is to use a sign, but drivers will stop and ask you where you're going, too―Podz
