Waited over an hour in the rain with sign saying "MKD", not a single car stopped. Gave up and took one of the passing buses to Pernik for €2, 11AM on a Tuesday. Maybe better luck with a sign saying "Pernik", but seems like there's a lot of traffic and not a lot of time for traffic to pull over so maybe better to go to the spot further down the road.―VagrantEntity

I got dropped of on the highway the evening before and walked here in the morning. The fence at the tollstation is broken and its easy to access the highway up a small slope.The workers greeted me back nicely and i got a ride in no time by a truck to Romania.
At the border we got X-Rayed and my guitar was inspected and played by the police:)

Got scooped up super quick with a sign for Plovdiv. Takes an hour and a bit to get there but there is a Lidl near the last bust stop to get food and water.Guys ended up driving 2 hours out of their way to drop us at the boarder

I agree that this is a nice place. In opposition to what map shows you it's not yet a highway so no problem about legal issues plus it's easily reachable by public transport from the city center. Bus number 185 has stop right before this junction and you only need to walk past it which isn't hard aldo also not to pleasant and that's it―Autostopeks

God spot for Kumanovo but don't expect to be as lucky as I was. First car that stopped for me had Bułgarian license plates and took me straight to Sofia, except for my driver I didn't saw any Bulgarian license plates so don't expect to much but still nice spot―Autostopeks

With a sign it worked after 5 min, had a sign to Weliko Tarnowo ( written in bulgarian Велико Търново) and a guy took us 45 min in the direction and dropped us off at a gas station on the highwayWe are 2 people male and female

Walked through the boarder at 20:00 at night but we still got a lift. Every car passing pretty much goes to Sofia. Stood by the pedestrian crossing.Boy and girl + Sofia sign.
Granted we did get pulled over 30 mins later and our guy was 3x over the legal limit blood alcohol percentage.
Still made it B)

Alot of busses leaving the parking looked and gestured me like they would have taken me but couldn't stop again so maybe be visible to them or directly ask them.
Just before i wanted to call it a night in the nearby field on my last round of asking people a trucker took me all the way to Sofia:) The walk across the border to BG is longer than usual if you get there by truck since they get separated a few hundred meters earlier

Maybe I just got unlucky, but I stood here for more than an hour. For the first 50 minutes, I stood here with a sign SRB. After that, I switched to Dragoman and got a ride to a gas station there in half an hour. I would say a lot of local traffic. The traffic light is 30 sec green, 30 sec red.―martih

I think this is an awesome spot. If you have the energy to ask, there are a lot of people stopping here for a quick bite, if not, just thumbing with a sign worked pretty decently for me. I really cool dude stopped for me and brought me all the way to Sofia. The cars are slow, and there is a place to stop easily.―martih
