It's tough to get out here, quite a trek from Winnipeg but if you post up at the traffic lights, you should have no problem catching a ride. Nice shoulder for people to pull over. Had a guy driving a propane fueled truck take me all the way to Sudbury across 3 days. Also it's a truck stop so you could try your luck with a truck if they are allowed to pick you up.―Joubsey

Waiting here with a sign "Hwy 17 West" - few cars stopped in front of the Esso (asking at the petrol station didnt work so well). Most offered a ride to Sudburry, which was nice but we wanted to stay on the Highway. After half an hour a young couple travelling to BC picked us up and gave us a ride on Hwy 17 to Espanola where we wanted to go―Anonymous

Spot is a bit creepy, cars go quite fast and most are going to Toronto and not to Ottawa.There is a gas station nearby but only for trucks, and it is not very busy. We were taken by a truck at the station when he stopped for a break.

Not a bad spot. There’s a shoulder cars can pull over on. At the very least you could find a car to the next big highway entrance/exit south of sudbury. Thats what I did and from there I got one to sault ste marie.―juliantayarah
