ONLY GO WESTAfter being denied by the police the hh back the next day. Medium traffic in the morning but we only waited 10min. The guy said it‘s free but then demanded money. We just got out.

DON‘T come here!!!!There is a very serious checkpoint. They told us it‘s a military area. While they were very friendly, they informed us, that we can get arrested for 10 days. They forced us to turn around with a driver they stopped. He had to bring us to the next police station in Nalati.
At the police station we were treated good. They forced to check us into a hotel and told us to bugger off in the morning.
They are building a new highway rn, so passing might be possible in the future. Double check with a police station before trying. They are serious.

We stood less than 5min before getting picked up by a solo lady on her way to Korla.
DON‘T go past this point, there are two issues:
1. At the drop location: There is a very serious checkpoint. They told us it‘s a military area. While they were very friendld, they informed us, that we can get arrested for 10 days. They forced us to turn around with s driver they stopped. He had to bring us to the next police station in Nalati.
2. At the pickup location: Opposite the road there is a big and serious police checkpoint. we did not see it as we came from the rural road. They asked a lot of questions on our way back. The civilian that was forced to take us to the police station helped us explaining the situation.

Took a short ride with a friendly uygur guy. He dropped us near the highway.

Lot’s of cars but mostly packed. Took 30min to catch s ride. He took us further down the highway. Great music!

The highway is closed off. Only a few trucks travel on it. There is a big police checkpoint in the direction of Urumqi. They will not let you pass (as we found out later).
We took a tractor back to the main road.
