This is a perfect spot in direction to Lefkosa/Nicosia. All cars passing this spot are going this direction. Easy to stop for the cars, there is also a bus stop. from the harbor you can walk to there in 15 min.―Anonymous

This is a Turkish military area, soldiers won't allow you to continue walking to St. Hilarion (because of "security reasons") so they will force you to hitchhike, and they will probably help you by stopping cars that go to the castle to ask if they can take you to the top.―Anonymous

We stood just before the highway, behind the guard rail. Big sign saying no stopping / hitching. But... A car stopped before police we saw any police.There are tunnels to get around the roundabout without playing Frogger in the road.
Hitch towards limmasol / larnaca / lefkosia (Nicosia)
The roundabout is hard for someone to stop in. They could, maybe, but it'd be dangerous and no one seemed to stop there. Also, not great luck at the gas station 6min walk from there.
If all else fails, there is a bus stop about 5min walk from the gas station with intercity busses going every hour or so. Between 4-8 euro, depending on which city.
