At first we (young couple) tried for hour and a half standing at the exit before entering the highway with a sign "Salzburg" and "Austria" but had no luck. Most cars here are going to České Budějovice. As soon as we changed the sign to "Budějovice" a sweet guy picked us up. He recommended us a good drop off spot past Budějovice and offered to take us there - a bus station in Kaplice nádraží.―Anonymous

Great spot if you stand correctly. Not many people stopping at the gas station, but cars slow down before the roundabout, so stand somewhere close to the road (ideally with a sign - we had "Budějovice" written), they can easily turn to the station from there. We (couple) waited for just 5 minutes before a guy with a van took us.―Anonymous

Best spot from ČB to Austria. It's an ideal spot because the cars coming in see you very early and there's plenty of room to stop because they're going very slowly coming in from the ring road.―smajlooos

Probably the best place for H-H south towards Autria (Linz) form Ceske Budejovice (Budweis).There is also a place to stop 200m before at the crossroad but it is quite dangerous place where drivers have to drive carefully and watch for other cars - not for hitchhikers. I think it's better to go from the crossroad to this place I taged.

I hitched out of here today, just to Cesky Krumlov for the day, but the people who picked me up were traveling further and offered to take me with them. If you make it to where Litvinovicka turns onto the highway and turn left towards the bus stop there is a big median thing that directs merging traffic onto the highway. Stand there and you will certainly get a ride. I got my ride in maybe ten seconds of flying a sign. No joke.―Joetrepp
