I did the mistake of hitchiking in the rain.. All my stuff soaking wet, while I'm also ill and out of money! Not a good day, but the spot is good for hitchiking :D

Perfect spot for getting farther South on the Continent. LOTS of European long-distance traffic. You can stand at the exit onto the highway, but I would recommend asking around. We quickly found a ride with a Swede going all the way to Belgium, who dropped us off in Hamburg.

Good place for catching a ride to Karlslunde (a great rest stop for those heading farther South towards Germany). There’s a lot of space to stop and you’re clearly visible.

I would just aim for Copenhagen; the traffic at this gas station going further north is pretty low. If you need to sleep here, there is an overpass, where it feels pretty safe. I was here early, and the traffic was low, but maybe you can find a better car from here.

Going north, this spot doesn't feel so great, but it worked for me. I was looking for a car, taking the ferry when two guys pulled in, looked at the ferry prices, and decided to take the bridge all the way to Copenhagen. If going to Denmark, I would advise taking the A7 rather than the A1.

Cara are very slow thanks to a speed bump. Not too much space for stopping but enough.Used a 5km sign to get at least on the next service area on the highway but git a ride to Denmark anyway.

Great south but I don't think that there is a god spot to hitchhike ferry across to Germany further south so I decided to go through Jutland and took first offer in that direction

Place to stop for car and good amount of traffic

It took a while there. There is space for the cars to stop but most just drove through and the ones that stopped just went to the nearby towns. But I still think it’s not too bad of a spot if you want to go direction Osted. Apparently most people were in a hurry to go home for dinner. 0.0 (I’ve been told)

I used this spot ONLY due to construction and it being the replacement motorway in 21.6.2026 This spot probably isn't as good when the construction is over and the road back to normal.

After 1,5h we got two ride-offers simultaneously! A German family offered to take us all the way to Hamburg with the ferry.
Tip: have a walk around in the ferry and use that time to network and find your next ride if you hear the language of the next country you’re heading towards! We heard a few Dutch families (but their cars were full).

The spot can be slightly dangerous to reach if there is lots of traffic, but for us at 10am it was fine. We got a ride to the Karlslunde station which put us on the right direction to head to Germany. Make sure to stand on the grass rather than the asphalt, some trucks pulled over just to take a break but their visibility might not be so great.
