This is so far my best, fastest and coolest experience in Estonia! So an undercover/secret service agent who was on a mission to drive towards Ida-Viru, took me, even though he was in a hurry, as they had just captured some criminals that needed to be interrogated there. He had done hitchhiking himself when he was younger and that’s why he had stopped. So he told me that he’d get me to Tartu very fast and that he will speed and he cannot be fined (going waaaay over the speed limit lol) as it’s a work reason, though he was in a normal civilian car (we got to Tartu in less than 45 min instead of an hour). I won’t and can’t get into details but he told me lots about his previous work in the police, chasing criminals, those high-speed chases, loopholes in the law etc. He obviously wasn’t allowed to give me any information on his current job though I tried my best to feed my curiosity. I really felt like I was in an action movie, so I truly loved this experience in my home country with this lovely man working for the safety of our nation! 😎―Anonymous

A bus stop where a judo coach stopped and took me across to Viljandi and even took me a bit further to a bus stop so I’d have a good chance to get from there straight to Tartu.―Anonymous

A bus stop. Two girls were heading to Saaremaa!!! So I was very lucky and no one checked the passenger tickets, so I got a free ride across with the ferry!―Anonymous

Not too busy on a Sunday morning, but a nice bus stop and the first car took me across to the other side of Viljandi, after he had dropped his child off and then took me to Kõpu as he had time and wanted to help me a bit further.―Anonymous

theres a nice road side spot just behind a round about - use it if youre trying to get to parnu!―Anonymous

This bus stop is doable for pretty much any direction going out from Viljandi; Holstre/Mustla; Karksi/Karksi-Nuia; Kilingi-Nõmme/Pärnu. Quite some long distance drivers try to avoid Viljandi and thus will go around it, so pretty good odds of getting a car longer distance, if you head towards Pärnu or Karksi, ask for Laidu tee and hitch from there if they go towards Holstre. Bus stop itself has pretty decent visibility, and wide enough, wait times of 5-20 minutes expected―Anonymous

Towards Imavere, but poor spot, honestly all of that road up til the junction with 49 is pretty hard to hitchhike, waiting times will be 40-120 minutes―Anonymous

Difficult place for cars to stop, towards Imavere, waiting time 100 minutes―Anonymous

Towards Viljandi, kinda okay spot, but has a bit annoying stone bollards before the bus stop that are rather annoying for drivers, not the best visibility as well as cars tend to speed through here, bus stop itself is very wide, try to aim for cars turning either from Tusti or from Uusna, wait times of 30-70 minutes expected―Anonymous

Wide roadside with clearly trucks and cars both stopping there, very good spot for heading towards Kilingi-Nõmme, wait time of 5-20 minutes―Anonymous

Best spot for going out of Viljandi towards Tartu, cars come slow from turn, just be between the roundabout and Valuste road turn since if you go too up, you'll start bothering cars turning. Wait time of 5-20 minutes expected.―Anonymous

Best spot if headed to north from Viljandi, cars coming from the 49 will have very slow speeds, and so will the ones coming from viljandi, harder at winter or at dark times as minimum lightning but in overall 10-60 minutes of a wait―Anonymous
