It is easy to get this spot by walking from center of the city. There is some space after bus-stop, but unfortunately cars go really fast. After all, if you don't want to get bus further, this is average spot to hitch-hiking.―Anonymous

Towards Kuopio and Varkaus. There is good spot to hitch-hike after traffic lights. It is easy to get drive farther from the city. Really near by the spot is shopping center, and that's why there is lots of cars going by.―Anonymous

The cars go quite fast but they can see you from far away and there is plenty of room to pull over at the bus stop. We waited with a "Joensuu" sign and were later told that most of the people driving south here are going there. Comes down to peoples attitude towards hitchhikers.―Uri
