You can take a bus and like 20 minutes walking and you are there. Best way to go directly to Roun or Caen

If you want to get on the A13 towards Normandie this is the only good spot. Stand on the sidewalk and hold a sign saying A13. Cars can stop on the right lane or drive off the road next to the parking garage.

Me and a friend with HUGE packs because we are bringing our instruments were worried about getting a ride due to the size. I speak very very little french so I was also worried. We took the RER to poissy, slept on near the cathedral outside, the police were very nice and didnt bother us, we woke up the next day grabbed some old bread for free and took the bus to auberge. At the bus stop you take your first right (if your walking in the direction you were coming from. Set up at the rest staition, my friend held a sign and I walked up to people and asked if they were going west on 13, the second person I asked said sure thing. He was heading towards Rouen but he dropped us off at a nice rest area where he even found a ride for us because our french was poor. Really good spot to hitch from.

Very good spot going to West (Normandie or Bretagne) or East (Paris)!! Big toll station, very busy every time! It's very fast to find a lift from here! a little bit of walk to rich it or from another lift! From here I really advise to don't write on your board any intermediary destination, you can write long distance directly because a lot of traffic and most of the people are going far away!!!

PS: mistake in the description: it's not "RER J", it's "Transilien J" (it's a train!)

Take the RER J from gare st-lazare. Stop at the mantes-la-jolie station. From the station, you'll have a 30 min walk (and will have to cross a field) to arrive to the toll station !

To Paris. Just after the toll station, and before the parking entrance.

a lot of cars are passing, a lot of them are going to suburbs close to the station. We took 2 bus from Paris to arrive there. We found a ride to Caen in about 30 minutes while asking to people.

New favorite spot to leave Paris going to anywhere around Rouen, Caen, Mont Saint-Michel, Le Havre, etc... Red light just before the highway entrance with cars having to get passed Morainvilliers gas station on the highway. I tried twice and always got taken on the first try to the gas station. From here just follow gas stations on the highway on your path. Never had to wait more than 10 minutes usually making a stop at Bosgouet gas station right after Rouen to reach further in Normandie or even Saint Malo.
Really easy to reach by foot, take the train to Poissy then bus 12 and walk.
