If Calais bound, Best of the bunch I reckon... Still not great. Moved up here from the roundabout at the terminal area. The traffic moves fast and comes all at once with a bunch of lorries blocking you from view for most of your potential car rides (lorries aren't able to stop here too big). A lovely Dutch family did end up stopping but it felt quite lucky. If you're going Calais definitely try get a ride from Maidstone instead nowhere in Dover is ideal for pickup! If you are gonna hitch from here, sign is essential―callsd

Got dropped here and only saw 2 cars, both with UK plates. The first one I asked agreed to take me to the tunnel but then said they weren't comfortable taking me across the channel, so dropped me after the check-in.―Wienerpolser

Heading to the UK. Saw a bunch of UK plates when I arrived, but they didn't have space or weren't going across the channel or just weren't fun enough to take hitchhikers. Waited along the wall next to the shop with a sign "direction Calais?" for 2 hours, but got nowhere, though I saw a few more UK plates. Then moved to the far end, at the exit onto the motorway, and got a lift within 20 minutes with a very kind person who went an hour out of their way to drop me on the road to Calais.―Wienerpolser

Almost completely deserted. NO lorries will stop in the Calais radius of 150 km apart from out of cigarette desperation. Arrived around 6:30pm and realised I messed up (though there's almost no possibilities coming from Lille...). Should have gone with the original Luxembourg idea for getting across to UK, or the reliable Jabbeke (though same situation with lorries).Try to avoid stopping here. Was saved by a guy who wanted to see the sea and didn't read the news.
A group of guys were trying to get into people's vans/cars. Not the best hitch friendly environment.

Small gas station. This place is a good for Dunkirque, but I wanted a car directly to England and there were not a lot, so after an hour I settled for Dunkirque (regretted that almost immediately).―martih

I was dropped off here and to my surprise, it was not an absolute shit hole. Maybe I got lucky, but I waved to all the cars leaving the gas station, McDonald's and the shopping mall and after around half an hour a guy stopped. I would only advice you to aim for some closer places. I did not wait for a ride directly to Dunkerque, but took a shorter ride to better spot.―martih

A decent spot going south or east. Maybe I got lucky, but I quickly found a car going in my direction (Dunkerque).―martih
