This is a decent spot for cars to stop and I think, in that regard, superior to the previous one at the traffic light. We used a "Strasbourg" sign and got a ride quickly even on a sunday.

Unexpectedly I got a ride in three minutes, 20km direction Luxembourg.
There is place to stop at the entrance of the gas station, but it's after a curve and cars go at about 80km/h, so not the best. I was dropped here, but I wouldn't come on purpose

Well, this is a strange one. Arrived at midnight - camped behind the little (very little!) woodland towards the entrance to the left and put in earplugs (as the traffic is really loud). There was maybe two cars around at that time and I was beat.
In the morning it felt a little bleak - traffic was so so but it felt like mostly locals. Still, I knew I would eventually find someone for Strasbourg. I began to heat water for a coffee and along cones a Luxembourgish car. He was going to Nancy, I believe, but decided to deviate to Stras as it was faster. Think he just wanted to take me. He hadn't seen a hitcher in a long time. Awfully sweet guy. Shared his veg wrap with me.

You have toilets here& tap water. Not a place I'd like to be in winter, but frankly the road sucks from Luxembourg to Metz and there's little other options. I had stood in Luxembourg for two hours under heavy rain and storm with a sign for Stras to no avail. But, arrive I did...finally :-)

I never really succeed getting long distance rides in Luxembourg, despite the possibilities. Had a sign for Strasbourg in the torrential rain past ten pm. Eventually a car for Metz stopped - it was foolish as there's almost nothing to stop at before Metz but I took it anyway and spent the night camping.
On another occasion, perhaps I can crack this...a sign for Stras/ Germany? Who knows..

Great spot since it's in front of the on ramp if you want to go north. Not much space to stop but usually french people are not afraid of stopping in a sketchy situation.

Got dropped by my ride in the roundabout and immediately went to the nearby gas station to ask lifts both to truck and car drivers, with my sign with "Belgique ou Nord" written on it. Got lucky enough to get a lift by a Dutch guy heading northward that dropped me to the Liége-Guillemins train station where I took a train to my end destination of Bruxelles

Don't make my same mistake of going in the nearby Ikea parking lot because you'd just waste time

Reached this spot via urban bus. There's a boulangerie where I bought lunch (the clerk spoke italian, incredible!) and a pharmacy in the vicinity

Waited with a sign with "Belgique ou Nord" written on it and after 20 minutes or so I got a lift to Metz

Amazing place to go north because, as my chauffeur explained to me, all the cross-border workers pass through here in order to go to Luxembourg and additionally they can stop easily because it's a bus stop with an additional lane behind your back
