I originally tried for a ride after getting dropped here around 2am, gave up and slept for a few hours. In the morning took about 20 minutes to get a ride. Low night traffic, high morning traffic.

Most drivers were local, but exceptionally friendly. People kept stopping to apologize they were getting off at the next exit, one guy circled back to offer food. Asked a swiss number plate and he offered a ride as far as the swiss border. I opted to get out south of Lyon, but should have stayed with him until east side of Lyon.

In the afternoon, I (female) wait for 1 min with a sign « Lyon » and have a proposition to Givors (south Lyon) that I didn’t take and I wait for 5 minutes and another car stop and bring me to the metro of Venitieux where I catch a metro to Lyon center.

I think I was just super lucky. Didn't expect it to go that well. But I still tried it there because I couldn't find a better place

Took quite long, cant remember the exact time but probably 1-2 hours. But then I got a good lift to Valence

Chill gas station, not hat many cars but lots of international plates. Had a sign Chambery, got ride to after Grenoble at the third car passing. Should be quite easy to get rides direction Geneve or Italy too.

Very good for direction Valance (had more than 7 people stop in 15 minutes going in that direction). Horrible in direction Grenoble. Ended up getting a ride to the next gas station direction Valence (Air de Bayanne) and crossed to the other side of the highway.

There's a pretty decent space for cars to stop after the roundabout, but not many cars unless the train just arrived. Was just trying to get somewhere with more traffic so I got a ride to the next big highway etrance.

Awful spot, after 2,5 hours someone finally stopped and brought me to Lyon. I tried standing before and after the gates, had a sign with Lyon/Nord and also tried just thumbing.

It was very easy to find a ride with a sign Italy by asking around

Most of the cars are from Montpellier at the gas station so I moved here with a sign Nîmes.

Tried another spot closest to the exit and asked directly to people. Nothing happened. Stayed on this point and had someone 10mn later for a ride to Aix en Provence. Been lucky! Thanks Marie-Jo!

I wasnt brave enough to reach the toll spot (there’s like 5 “pedestrians forbidden” signs) so I waited after the roundabout. Not really the best because 75% of the cars that go to the highway come from the other road nearby. And there’s no space for the cars to stop (but ppl don’t go that fast cause they’re just leaving the roundabout).

Luckily i got a ride for Cavaillon (after Avignon) after 40mn with a “A7 sud” sign.
