A decent place to hitchhike when going to Geneva or France. Bus stop Boudonnette, also metro.―Anonymous

Only one part of the traffic so it is slow, but hitching the entrance of the highway of the roundabout was impossible. It worked and I did my way out of Lausanne―Anonymous

An average place to hitchhike in direction of Geneva. There is a bus stop before the on ramp (Bourdonette, also a metro stop!) and in the morning it is quite easy to get picked up.―Anonymous

there is a small gas-station and a bus-stop, so you can either ask people or hold out your thumb...try to get to the next bigger gasstation on the way to Geneve and there shouldn't be anymore difficulties―Anonymous

At his suggestion, my previous driver dropped me off here. My destination was Lyon, but I had to signs: Lyon and Geneva. Got a ride in about 10 minutes - the wait was probably longer than it should have been, but the drivers had seen me digging in the dumpster for chocolate! They threw away 60 or 70 euros worth of amazing food in the dumpster, so I would suggest geting some 'expired' chocolate to give your driver... just wash the outside wrapper :)―Anonymous

PEOPLE:1 Male, 1 Female
DIRECTION:
to Munich
SIGN:
Zurich
DATE:
14 MAR 2010
TIME:
About 11h
WEATHER:
Sunny, cool.
DETAILS:
As suggested by a local driver, this is one of the entrances to the autobahn heading all directions from south Lausanne. Though many of the Sunday drivers were families, it only took about 30 minutes to get a lift. Playing harmonica helps too :)

Sur le parking, demandez à aller vers Lausanne, Genève ou Berne (utilisez les plaques d'immatriculation). Vous éviterez ainsi l'agglomération de Lausanne si vous allez plus loin.In the parking area, ask to get to Lausanne, Geneva or Bern (use the cars' licence plates), so you can avoid Lausanne's center if you're going further.

CORRRECTION to my previous post: the suburban train stop from which you can reach this place easiest is called 'bossière/lutry', the suburban trains that take you there are number '2' and '4' (NOT number '21' which is not stopping there).―Anonymous

the SHELL & AUTOGRILL petrolstation on A9/E62 close to lausanne, a very good place to reach either fribourg/bern/basel or zurich (via A12/E27) or montreux, martigny and the mont blanc (via the A9 autoroute). you can reach this relais from the main train station of lausanne in 15 minutes: take the suburban train (S21) to "bossieres" (three stops), walk up the roads to the autoroute, climb over the fence and, there you are. there is, as mentioned, a small shop inside the petrolstation and an AUTOGRILL self service restaurant. from the terrace of the selfservice (when the view is clear) you can see the ice and snow capped top of 'mont blanc' mountain. on my personal rating (1 = poor, 10 = superb) i will give this spot a "9 to 10", it only takes minutes to find a car taking you somewhere, the station is very clean and safe, there is plenty-plenty of traffic, the view is spectacular. a foot bridge links the (southern eastbound) station with the (northern westbound) station where cars are heading in the geneva direction.―Anonymous
